Like comparing apples and oranges…

With the statement above we’re led to believe that apples and oranges are very different, but they’re more alike than different.

I bet you could easily come up with five, ten or more similarities between them.  Personally I think a better statement could be Like comparing apples and elephants…

We’re too quick to look at obvious differences and think that’s enough to come to a conclusion.

But it usually comes down to focus. If you search for difference you’ll see it; if you search for similarities you’ll see them too.

It’s a choice. Finding similarities between things that at first glance look different can (with a little practice) become an easy habit.

And a lot more enlightening.
