Just don’t ask me his name
There are times when I’m working on many projects at the same time and I feel like a mother with twenty children. I’m not complaining. I love writing novels with several different characters; it’s just that at times I wish my memory could hold up.
I am currently promoting my January release Taming Mariella and realize that I have to remember all of the characters , just in case anyone asks me; I just finished my first book in my upcoming series, scheduled to be on the shelf in July 2008, and I have all of those characters ready in my thoughts, so that, once again, when I’m being interviewed or need to write a brief synopsis about the book I know who I’m talking about. AND I am working on my second book in the series with all of the many characters involved.
I also have a proposal out circling trying to find a publisher, so if anyone refers to those characters I have to know to whom they’re referring “Oh you mean the one with the limp?” . As I said earlier, I’m not complaining, it’s just that when I’m working (i.e. promoting, editing, writing or drafting) several stories at a time, I have found that I have to create a schedule in my mind, just to keep all the characters straight!
This is another reason why authors may seem a little scattered. We really do have voices in our heads and those voices all have names.
